JW Doctors
by elisaporquien inokay i know that there are people who began careers in medicine, law, etc.
then later got into the truth.
i know that pursuing a higher education is not forbidden but a personal choice.

Elisaporquien said, " Okay I know that there are people who began careers in Medicine, Law, etc. then LATER got into the truth. I know that pursuing a higher education is not forbidden but a personal choice. Is there anyone out there, reading this, that grew up in the truth and pursued a career in medicine (and remained in the truth)? What was the experience like (both med school and residency)? I'm not a Jehovah's Witness but my mom and my sister are and I believe in no blood. "
You are now in the company of XJWs. We don't use the Watchtower catch-phrase "the Truthâ„¢" because Watchtower dogma has nothing to do with objective, observabe truth. We don't impugn truth by associating the word with the Watchtower. Call it "the Truth" around your Mom and Sis if you must, but don't expect us to get warm & fuzzy when you use that cult lingo here.
...and if you really are not a JW as you say, WHY o why would you call it "the truth"? Is that just a bad habit you picked up, or do you really believe it is "the truth"? If you do, get thee to a Kingdom Hall!
You say that higher education is a "personal choice." Yeah, if you don't mind being labeled as "spiritually weak" and constantly harrassed from all sides because of your "choice", then yeah, sure it's a "choice" viewed in the same way that your "choice" to use heroin would be.
So, you're not a JW but you believe in "no blood." Are you an Israelite? Are you a member of The Society For Creative Anachronism trying to get a post-diluvian gig going? Do you accept blood fractions in the way JWs do, or are you an absolutist on the issue?

2014 Year Text "Let Your Kingdom Come"
by scotoma inguy pierece mentioned the years text as let your kingdom come and then dropped the line "it's been 100 years since the kingdom was established in the heavens".. that was it.
wouldn't the 2013 corp meeting be the appropriate time to be discussing that milestone - instead of waiting til 2014 is 3/4 over next october.. obviously they don't want to dwell on the 100 years because it really puts the old light about the generation in a "bad light".
doesn't a centennial deserve a proper celebration?.

I think that 3D printers will revolutioize workshops the way Guttenberg's movable type revolutionized printed communication.
So YES, if you have the inclination to learn about them, do so.
But I would advise against learning about them from a repairman's (service technician's) point-of-view. Instead, learn about how to CREATE with them using 3D CAD and (if this applies) Numerical Control methods. Then you would be able to create you own visions AND, if you wished, work as a consultant or "short job run" specialist to other businesses in your area.
3D printshops will be the new incarnations of the old "village smithy" shop.
Carpe Diem!
As for what they are:
Visualize your desktop inkjet printer: that is a 2D printer. It prints on an X and Y axis.
The 3D printer is very similar to your inkjet printer, except that instead if squirting droplets of liquid ink onto a sheet of paper, it squirts droplets of molten plastic (usually) onto the work surface. The molten plastic rapidly cools and the printer then advances on the Z axis and repeats the process. In this way the plastic is deposited as "slices" of the thing being replicated.
There is a site for a company called SHAPEWAYS that allows people to market things they have designed. The site is here:
Most of the items offered are less than 4 inches square, and they do tend to be pricey, but this IS new tech, and the print engines (the machines) and the printer "ink" are expensive.
Bathsheba Grossman was one early adopter of 3D printing technology. She is an artist who has a better-than-average grasp of mathematics, and she produces sculptures like "Metatron," shown here:
This is a great example of what you can do with 3D printing.

Wife update
by problemaddict inif you want the short version, scroll down to "short version".. .
so i am at 1200 posts or so (only about 6 were probably of note), and i still havenlt told my story and probably won't for some time.
basically, i was a born in who has served in other countries, as an ms, and given talks etc... my wife and i were in foreign language, have co's we have counted as close family friends, and were basically the golden boy and girl of their respective areas.

Congratulations and best wishes and good luck going forward.
One thing that LEPT out at me was that your wife was a victim of abuse and yet it seems that is not an issue for her. Am I correct on that? Does she just give her abuser a "pass" or does she think that the True Religionâ„¢ would of course have abusers of children who are "in good standing" within the religion, even holding exalted offices.

OK - I've had it - My letter to the KH
by LisaRose inthe whole time i lived in colorado, i had the dubs come by once and leave a tract.
but since moving to california, they are at my door so often i asked them to put me on the "do not call" list.
this did not stop them, in fact i have asked four times, plus once i called the kingdom hall and left a message, they still come, the last time this past saturday.

LisaRose,
If you feel you need to write to them, then you SHOULD do it.
Don't count on them reading it, though.
That LAST SENTENCE is a KILLER strategy... if they didn't read the entire letter they will regret it!
Have you asked your lawyer about issuing Jehovah's Witnesses (as a class, at the local Kingdom Hall) with a restraining order insisting they not set foot on your property. If they do, you will call 911 to report trespassers on your property harrassing you intent on intentionally inflicting emotional harm to you. Then if they show up again, carry out the plan.
Do you live in an area where POSTED signs can be displayed? You might also want to consider HD video monitoring so violations can be documented and the perps identified.
Once you have a violator "on the hook," launch at least a civil suit (if a criminal suit can't happen) with the goal being to cost that "faithful Dub" some cash.
The WTB&TS will not lift a finger to assist the person who went toyour door AS THEIR REPRESENTATIVE (especially when the crime was committed after so many written warnings and is proved with video). This will serve as an education to the Dub pawn about how well WT shepherds protect the flock (they don't).
Leave the Dub pawn's corpse impaled on a spear near the entrance to your property. (spiritually speaking)
Live long and prosper!
